The former WWE Superstar will fight in the octagon.

After his unexpected departure from WWE earlier this year has left everyone speechless, but now he is looking forward to be a full-time MMA fighter. The 36-years old himself broke the news on UFC 181 to Joe Rogan.
"It's very awesome to be here. You know, this is something that's been in the back of my mind for a very, very long time. I have a background in kenpo. I've done Brazilian jiu-jitsu off and on for a very, very long time. But the idea of being able to step in the Octagon and find out what's inside myself and test myself is an opportunity I was not able to deny myself."

CM Punk's whose real name is Phillip Brooks said that the weight class is not yet finalized but he will most likely compete at middleweight. There will be a weight cut soon, might be welterweight but light heavyweight, he said, is not an option.

No opponent or his debut date has been announced yet. Punk said "This is my new career—100 percent, I'm going to go full steam ahead, all systems go."

Punk was a fan of MMA for a very long time. Former UFC middleweight Chael Sonnen once invited him to accompany during his walk to the octagon - but Vince McMahon strongly denied this request.

Punk has been practicing jiu-jitsu for a very long time under Rener Gracie, a member of MMA's iconic Gracie family. Gracie said early this January there was "no telling how successful [Punk] would be if he devoted himself full time to the training."

This news has definitely brought an enticement and controversy for man MMA and pro wrestling fan. We are sure as this news broke out Punk will be in a buzz till he debuts.

Brock Lesnar who entered MMA world and remains the biggest pay per view draw in UFC history. Lesnar captured the heavyweight title in 2008 and defended it twice and lost it in 2010 to Cain Velasquez. Lesnar retired from pro MMA in 2011 after a loss to Alistair Overeem.
